There are three conditions that have to be satisfied for a function to be continuous, it is  a piece-wise function usually in these questions.
 

The function is defined at that point so we know a pattern for every x possible
ie
x < 2, x = 2 and x > 2
Look for the equals sign somewhere in the
piece-wise function!

The limit of the function must exist at the point in question:
the function must aim for the same value from above and below the point in question
.

The value of the function at the point must be the same as the value of the limit at the point in question
